What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've either lost your Nissan keyfob or it's stopped functioning. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back and see where you last had it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is a crucial element of the car's sophisticated keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors as well as start the engine. It also comes with a convenient design, making it easy to put in your pocket. A key fob can also provide convenience features such as a lockout protection function, which ensures that you won't wander out of the vehicle with the keys inside.
In contrast to previous models of key fobs which required you place the key in the ignition slot to access the onboard systems of your vehicle, smart keys function wirelessly. Nissan detects when you come close to your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This can be as simple as locking or opening the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, and even starting the engine.
The Keylab come with a valet key hidden in the metal. This key can be pulled out from a release on the back of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it to the valet. The Smart Key fob also features an charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, then you'll need to replace its batteries. Your owner's guide will provide instructions on how to replace the batteries on most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can open your car's doors and begin its engine with the push of a button. You can also select a set of presets to cater to your preferences such as setting the mirrors and seats to ensure maximum comfort. You can also control the music via your smartphone so that you don't need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs have an antenna in them that transmits signals to your vehicle whenever you push a button or come close to it. When the vehicle receives the signal that the system has been activated, it will start for locking and unlocking doors, kicking off the engine, or opening the trunk. If you want to test the fob, stand at a distance from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds, you know that you successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. If yours runs out then our Parts Department can help you change it quickly and conveniently. To do this, remove the key that is hidden and then open the battery compartment of your key fob. Replace the battery with a new one after taking out the old one. Make sure that the positive side of the new battery is facing the same direction as the previous one did. Close the compartment in the battery and then, after that, return the key to its original position within the case.

Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside, so long as they're within the operating range. The ignition of the vehicle can be activated by pressing a button on key fobs or a smartphone application. The remote start system can also activate the climate control so that the driver can select their preferred temperature. Some systems feature two-way communications that lets the driver observe what's happening in their vehicle.
If the remote start function of your car isn't functioning, the most likely cause is low battery power. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery which can be replaced. It lasts about two years. Change the battery is a simple process, but you'll have to know the location of the hidden key on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
Flip your fob upside down, and press the latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the keypad is open take out the old batteries and replace them with new ones. Make sure your new battery is the same size and shape of the old one. Before closing the case's outer, make sure that the hidden key is reinserted and the key fob is reassembled correctly. Contact our parts department for assistance in replacing your Intelligent Key fob battery.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection can prevent the nuisance of lockouts that are caused by impedance relay malfunction. A special module inside the power control monitors impedance relay activity, and then disables the output. This feature is only available on vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was turned on when it should have been shut down for maintenance or repair. These incidents are typically the result of the energy being not released properly. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) which makes sure that machines are off until an authorized individual releases them, helps to prevent these types of accidents.
The LOTO system is comprised of a series of locks tags, locks, and other devices that are used to secure, isolate or isolate the device from electrical power. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel are required to be trained in the use of these devices. These devices include, but aren't restricted to chains, locks, and padlocks. Each device is unique and labeled, including the date and time at which it was used along with the name and title of the person who is authorized and the reason for the lockout/tagout (repairs maintenance, repairs and maintenance, etc.). It must be stated clearly that these devices cannot be removed until a complete LOTO procedure has been followed.
